Jacob and I would like to thank everyone who came to UKTC 2025 and helped us make the event possible. Neither of us had run a tournament before, and this became one hell of an undertaking. However, despite all of the hours of planning, designing, and stressing, we couldn't be happier with how everything went on the weekend. A huge thank you to those who passed on your kind words to Jacob and me during and following the event; it really meant a lot to us.

In the wake of the event, I am still working to finalise some of the financial admin. For those who paid £75 for the Saturday night accommodation, I am working through the list and issuing £5 refunds via PayPal. This was due to the university not being able to offer the breakfast that we had initially hoped for.

So, is there going to be a UKTC 2026? The short answer is no, but the longer answer is that UKTC is planning on continuing. Not only was this my first time being a TO, but at the same time, I was buying a house, moving departments at work, and running my 3D printing business. I was spinning far too many plates, and I chose to step down as the lead TO for the sake of my own sanity. However, in my absence as the TO, other members from Tactics & Theatrics have stepped in to take my place. Jacob and I will still be heavily involved with the event, but the core logistics are now in a very safe pair of hands.

So if not 2026, when will UKTC be returning? We are hoping to bring UKTC back in early 2027, back to the roots of the event. Unfortunately, whilst Leeds Uni proved to be a great venue, they were incredibly expensive, unforgiving, and tricky to work with. Following the event, they've shown no interest in working with us again, and sadly, their charges create far too much of a financial risk for us to continue working with them. For full transparency, the final bill for UKTC was over £22,000. When all was said and done, I walked away with less than £50 profit.

Currently, we are retrieving quotes from a handful of new potential venues. Not only do we want to reduce the financial risk, but we also want to find a home for UKTC in the years to come. Once we have the venue, we can disclose the dates, and then we will be full steam ahead. We already have plans for the rules pack, merch, designs, and gift packs. We're ready to hit the ground running, and we hope to see you all there at the next one.

Many thanks and happy rolling,
Haydn
